The Director Behind Pride & Prejudice Just Created Chanel’s New Coco Mademoiselle Film

There is a new chapter in the story of Coco Mademoiselle — and this time, Chanel has brought a little cinematic magic with it.
For the launch of Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu, Chanel enlisted British filmmaker Joe Wright, the director behind Pride & Prejudice, Atonement and Anna Karenina, to create its new campaign film starring singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams, the new face of Coco Mademoiselle.
The new Chapter in the story of Coco Mademoiselle
The film follows Abrams through Paris after dark. Escaping the paparazzi, she slips into a café — only for the evening to unexpectedly turn into an energetic celebration, as she draws the people around her into dancing, playing and simply enjoying the moment.
It feels spontaneous, playful and wonderfully cinematic — while capturing the idea at the heart of Coco Mademoiselle: a woman who follows her own path and leaves an impression wherever she goes.
A Night In Paris
The campaign accompanies a new, more intense interpretation of the Coco Mademoiselle universe. Created by Chanel in-house perfumer Olivier Polge, Crush Absolu is an ambery fragrance centred around the idea of irresistible attraction. Chanel describes it as magnetic in its intensity.
Bright grapefruit and lychee open the fragrance before giving way to rose, jasmine and powerful patchouli, creating something simultaneously luminous and sensual.
