Housed within the historic Palazzo Donà Giovannelli, a 15th-century residence once home to Venetian nobility, the hotel marks a new chapter for the brand — one that transforms a place of history into an intimate 47-room retreat.
Set in the quieter Cannaregio district, away from the intensity of central Venice, the hotel offers a more personal and authentic way of experiencing the city — where canals, light, and time itself feel softer.
From Legendary Train to Venetian Palazzo
This is not a reinterpretation of Venice. It is a continuation of it — beautifully reflected in the presence of Bevilacqua textiles, where centuries of Venetian craftsmanship become part of the experience.
In addition to the broccatello fabrics, Bevilacqua also created a series of coordinating cushions, adding depth, texture, and a quiet sense of refinement to the spaces.
During our Venice retreat, we had the privilege of visiting the Bevilacqua atelier with Giulia Bevilacqua. We witnessed fabrics being woven on historic wooden looms, each piece carrying generations of knowledge, patience, and artistry.
Centuries-old weaving excellence at Orient Express
The restoration of the palazzo was approached with a rare sensitivity — preserving frescoes, architectural details, and centuries of layered history, while introducing contemporary design that feels quietly integrated rather than imposed.
Under the vision of architect Aline Asmar d’Amman, the space becomes a living dialogue between eras — where Venetian heritage and modern refinement coexist effortlessly.
Each room reflects this philosophy: elegant, intimate, and deeply connected to the story of the building itself.
